"At Nightingale Hall, we are comforted to know she is being well looked after and is in the right hands." - Judy Nicholls
At the age of 102 and becoming increasingly frail, Ellen Nicholls could no longer remain in the sheltered housing scheme that had been her home for the last 15 or so years.
Her family began talking to people they knew who had been through the experience of finding a suitable residential care home and the name Nightingale Hall was top of the list.
After visiting the home Ellen's sons Robert and Kenneth knew that what their friends had told them was right, and Ellen moved into Nightingale Hall, which is owned by Wellburn Care Homes, in October 2010.
After a period of adjustment Ellen is now settled at Nightingale Hall and receiving the 24-hour-a-day support she needs.
Daughter-in-law Judy said: "Some of the homes we visited before Nightingale were very clean but felt clinical, where as Nightingale, as well as being clean, has a homely feel, and that makes a huge difference."
"Ellen has got a nice sized room and we were pleased to be able to bring along some of her furniture and arrange it in a way she would recognise from her previous home.
"At Nightingale we are comforted to know she is being well looked after and is in the right hands."
